Mayor Hodges for Minneapolis Announces Endorsement from SEIU State Council
Minneapolis, MN – Today, SEIU Minnesota State Council announced their endorsement of Mayor Betsy Hodges’ re-election campaign.
“We still have a lot of work to do to make Minneapolis a city that works for all residents, but even through disagreements, Mayor Hodges has listened and brought in community input about tough decisions. Our members did not hear a compelling argument to change the course as we fight to address the issues facing working families in Minneapolis,” said SEIU Minnesota State Council President Jamie Gulley. “We will continue push to improve police relations, make the city affordable for working people, and fight back against corporate greed and any form of hatred against our family, friends and neighbors. SEIU members believe Mayor Hodges is the best choice to be Mayor as we take on these battles.”
“Over the last four years, thanks to the advocacy of SEIU and other progressive organizations, we’ve been able to advance the working families agenda, pass the first Earned Sick and Safe Time ordinance in the state, and now we’re well on our way to $15 minimum wage without a tip penalty. I’m grateful for their partnership and endorsement and know that we have more work to do together over the next four years to fight preemption, support and defend local control, and build equity between and within all of our communities,” Hodges said. “Now more than ever, when our communities are feeling pressure from the Trump administration and the state legislature, it’s important for us to stand together to work for every resident of our city. I know that SEIU will be there as a valuable partner in this important work during the next four years.”
SEIU joins womenwinning, OutFront Minnesota, and various local and statewide elected officials in their endorsement of Mayor Hodges’ campaign.
